'If I be waspish, best beware my sting.'

— Act V, scene 1

Samantha Spiro (Sex Education, Netflix) and Simon Paisley Day (This England, Sky) go head to head as Katherina and Petruchio in the ★★★★★ (Daily Mail) production.

Shakespeare’s knotty comedy, The Taming of the Shrew, introduces one of theatre’s greatest games of wits as a would-be couple are hell-bent on confusing and outsmarting each other right up to the play’s equivocal and unexpected conclusion.

Synopsis

Two wealthy sisters in Padua are ready to marry. Despite the youngest, modest Bianca, having no shortage of suitors, she will only take a husband once her older sister, the sharp-tongued Katherina, has found her equal. The gold-digging Petruchio, a man as maddeningly strong-willed and outspoken as Katherina, fancies his chances. But has he really got what it takes to meet Katherina at the top of the aisle?
